Lester Schrenk, USAF, B-17 Ball Turret Gunner flies his 10th (and final) mission participating in “8th Air Force BIG WEEK – DAY 3” attacking German airfield Aalborg West as a diversion for the main force attacking targets in Germany.

Crew bails out of B-17G #42-31377 ‘Pot-O-Gold’ over Denmark after the aircraft is attacked and shot down by Luftwaffe ace Hans-Herman Müller. Pilot 2nd Lt Lavies perish having landed in a lake, rest of crew is taken as POWs by German ground forces.
