Tuskegee Airmen (Red Tails)

The Tuskegee Airmen were a group of primarily African American military pilots (fighter and bomber) and airmen who fought in World War II.

They formed the 332nd Expeditionary Operations Group and the 477th Bombardment Group of the United States Army Air Forces. The name also applies to the navigators, bombardiers, mechanics, instructors, crew chiefs, nurses, cooks and other support personnel.

1944 Douglas Devaux, USAF, Flight Radio Operator, arrives Karachi, India after a long journey with many flights across South America and Africa. (79)
1944 Lester Schrenk, USAF, B-17 ball Turret Gunner, 327th BS, 92 BG flies his 7th mission participating in raid "8th Air Force 212" bombing German airfield in Caen/Carpiquet, France. (79)
1945 POW Lester Schrenk, USAF, 327th BS, 92BG is evacuated by German troops from Stalag Luft 4 outside Gross Tychowo, Poland, due to the front line nearing. This is the start of what will be 3 month long death-march spanning over 600-800 miles. (78)
